I’ve recently had the great opportunity to photograph legendary fight trainer and boxing analyst Teddy Atlas for a feature in Athletes Quarterly. The story revolves around the foundation Mr. Atlas runs on Staten Island to help continue his father’s work, a doctor who helped the people in need of medicine and couldn’t afford it. Teddy is a Staten Island native and I was doing my homework on his background and achievements, I thought it’d be pretty cool to head on to the island and photograph him there. After exchanging a couple of ideas on locations, we decided to head to a barber shop - a place he told me used to be a natural meeting point to discuss boxing back in the days - and at his home. Thanks to my man, the master Art Director Anthony Scerri for designing a beautiful 6 page spread around the photos, couldn’t be more excited about how it came out!
